The route from Oslo to Bergen is approximately 500 km long and has more than 15000 meters elevation gain/loss The route follows the marked trails of the DNT (Norwegian TrekkingAssociation) wherever possible and practical. In some areas, however, the route traverses forest and mountain terrain without path or along a very tiny path.
The route is updated when needed. The organizer may activate alternative routes in the case of difficult weather conditions.
Observe that the values of elevation gain/loss related to a GPS route depend on the altitude model and the method of computation. The distance along a (planned) GPS route is typically somewhat shorter than the actual distance covered in the field.
